My name is Nirvana, and I specialise in providing tailored support to children who need it. I provide comprehensive literacy assessments and SEND-specific educational advice to families who feel that their child is not making the progress they are capable of.
I have had many roles in education: class teacher, TA, private tutor, literacy intervention teacher, and Education Lead. I have worked with many children who struggle in school, whether that be due to specific learning disabilities, emotional or mental health needs, or simply needing a bit more support to make progress.
This support can be difficult to find, particularly for children who are falling through the cracks at school. That's where I come in.
My Services
Literacy Assessments
I conduct detailed assessments to evaluate reading and comprehension skills, providing a report with clear targets and suggested support.
SEND-Specific Guidance
Having worked with learners with additional needs for several years, both in schools and in out-of-school settings, I am happy to discuss your child's learning journey and make suggestions on support that I think may benefit them.
1-to-1 Tutoring
In some cases I am able to provide bespoke 1-to-1 teaching, specifically in literacy and numeracy for children who are struggling with their current provision or those who have a 'spiky profile', e.g. excellent reading skills but poor comprehension.
Directions
I am currently able to offer literacy assessments during the daytime and some evenings at the Brunel Happy Hub, Westbourne Park Rd, London W2 5UZ. I recommend you come by public transport - the nearest Underground is Westbourne Park, and the hub is well-served by local bus routes. When making your booking, in the 'more information' box, please give some detail about your child's chronological age (e.g. 7 years 2 months), whether you think they are reading "above" or "below" their age, and specific examples of their reading difficulties, e.g. struggles to blend sounds, confuses words that look similiar, does not understand what they have read.
